KBPM's Nukkad Bahas from Rajkot, Gujarat, March 10, 2014



Rajkot is heart of Saurashtra region, politically most important in Gujarat. Rajkot was capital of erstwhile Saurashtra state also. This LS seat was won by Keshubhai Patel in 1977. Currently this seat is held by Congress MP Kunwarji Bavalia.

For 2014 LS Elections, Bavalia is Congress candidate, while Mohan Kundaria is BJP Candidate. Kundaria is BJP MLA from Tankara, Rajkot.

In 1989, 1991, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2004 this seat was won by BJP.

Rajkot LS seat comprises 7 Assembly seats- Tankara, Wankaner, Rajkot East, Rajkot West, Rajkot South, Rajkot Rural and Jasdan.

Tankara is birthplace of great social reformer Swami Dayanand Sarswati, while Mahatma Gandhi got his school studies in Rajkot.

In 2012 Assembly elections, out of 7, four seats was won by BJP while Congress won 3 seats.
